What's New At Gilchrist?
Gilchrist Club Welcomes New Executive Chef
We are pleased to welcome Chef Daniel Coyt to the Gilchrist Club family as our new executive chef. Daniel begins right away and has teamed up with Sous Chef Angela and Planation Chef Cindy to bring you the absolute finest in home-style cooking before the hunt and culinary delight at dinner time.
Chef Daniel was most recently with Kessler Canyon in DeBeque, Colorado. While at this 5-star facility, Daniel trained and cooked under a one-time winner of the hit television series, The Next Food Network Star. There he cooked for countless celebrities, professional athletes, Fortune 500 CEOs and politicians. Chef specializes in the surf and turf fare you will often find at Gilchirst as well as wild game dishes. Without a doubt, he has many delectable surprises up his sleeve for you that will undoubtedly excite the palate.
His first experience in the outdoor cooking world came in 2008 when he became Executive Chef at Flat Creek Lodge in Southeast Georgia. There, Chef Daniel and his sous chef were featured in the pages of Southern Living magazine. While at Flat Creek, he was able to cook for chef and restauranteur Robert Leoci, fitness-guru and national celebrity Jillian Michaels and Chef Hollie Chute, executive chef at the governor’s mansion in Buckhead, Georgia.
Chef Daniel is extremely excited to meet you upon your next outing at Gilchirst Club. “Sous Chef Angela and Plantation Chef Cindy have made me feel right at home. It’s never a one-person show in this business. Team is the most important element in the kitchen. Our team will continue to fulfill our duties with honor and respect for Gilchrist Club members and their families. They expect nothing less than the highest standards and the most delicious food we can possibly prepare. I am so excited to be here and share in the traditions of Gilchirst Club.”
Well, Chef Daniel, we welcome you with open arms and know you and team will delight our fine family of members.
LATE IS GREAT FOR BOBWHITE ACTION
There are many fine attributes Gilchrist members take pleasure in on the grounds of this genteel property. Late-season quail tops the list. But don’t let the late-season title fool you. Action is as explosive as the opener and November temperatures at Gilchrist don’t require hand warmers, down jackets or insulated boots. In fact, temperatures for November average 72 for a high and 50 for a low. There’s no chance of snow and rainfall is at its lowest with an average monthly accumulation of less than two inches. In brief, it’s downright pleasant!
When you team Gilchrist’s erupting bobwhite quail action with the hospitable climate you have the ingredients to an unforgettable hunting experience. Rustic lodge accommodations set the stage for your hunt and a quick visit to the shotgun range for a personalized shooting lesson will have you ready for the first, adrenaline-charged flush.
Finding bobwhites isn’t a challenge on the 27,000-acre club property. Nearly two dozen fields are managed for quality bobwhite cover and forest glades also provide hideouts for the shifty flocks.
Finding these Houdini authorities is made even easier with the aid of professionally trained pointers. They’ll lead the way and give you exact coordinates to a flock. After the flush a canine crew of retrievers roves the site to gather your prize.
You’ll travel to and from the fields in a fleet of all-terrain Jeeps. After the hunt and a hearty meal you can return to the fields or choose from a medley of outdoor activities to fill remaining daylight hours. Contact us now for the best late-season upland opportunities in the country.
